Wolf ridge

This year's trip marked our 20th year at Wolf Ridge! The weather was a little chilly but we stayed dry!

The trip would not be possible without the assistance and support of our many volunteers - parent trip chaperones, scholarship committee members, at-home contacts, the Diamond Path staff, the 4th grade teachers, staff trip participants, 4th grade parents, and the staff at Wolf Ridge.

WOLF RIDGE 2007 PHOTOS ARE HERE!

Click your classroom's link to view photos from this year's Wolf Ridge trip. These photos are in no particular order. They are a completely random sampling from this year's trip. There may not be a photo of each and every child or chaperone. Don't worry though - each and every child is captured in the Wolf Ridge video (due out later this year).

What is Wolf Ridge?

Wolf Ridge is an accredited residential environmental school for people of all ages. Its mission is to:

  • foster awareness, curiosity, and sensitivity to the natural world
  • promote social understanding, respect, and cooperation
  • rekindle the concepts of conservation and stewardship

Where is Wolf Ridge?

Wolf Ridge is located in Finland, Minnesota approximately 65 miles north of Duluth, along the north shore just to the west of Highway 61. It’s about a 5-hour drive from the school.

In September, generally the second week of school, 4th graders at Diamond Path Elementary go to camp. The students, teachers, and parent chaperones travel to the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center for four days of adventure! There they participate in many different environmental activities including tree studies, rock climbing, an adventure ropes course, Ojibwe heritage, Voyageur Life, and the exploration of an owl pellet, just to name a few! This is the high point of the year for many 4th graders as they get to enjoy things in which they might otherwise never get a chance to participate.

Parents of third graders receive information notices and information packets throughout the year to keep them informed and updated on their soon-to-be 4th graders trip to Wolf Ridge.
